Our dentist may lightly etch the surface of your teeth to enhance the bond between the composite resin and your natural enamel.

Step 4: Composite Resin Application

The next step involves the application of the composite resin. We will carefully apply the tooth-coloured resin directly to the surface of your teeth. The composite resin is a malleable material that can be shaped and sculpted to achieve the desired look. This process is where your dentist’s artistic skills come into play, ensuring that your veneers blend seamlessly with your existing teeth.

Step 5: Bonding and Curing

Direct Composite Veneers

Direct composite veneers are traditional dental veneers applied directly to your teeth. The application process is minimally invasive as it doesn’t take dentists long to prepare your teeth for the procedure.

Composite veneers will be bonded to your teeth within the first appointment to provide instant results. The resin is carefully applied, shaped, and bonded to the teeth in distinct layers. This allows for a natural-looking shape that best suits your original set of teeth.

The direct composite veneers procedure is less time-consuming as it can be completed within the mouth and in just one dental visit. It is also non-invasive and customised to match the unique structure of each patient’s face.

Indirect Composite Veneers

Indirect and direct composite veneers differ in terms of the application process rather than the formation of the veneers. Hence, both are made from the same resin material yet bonded to the tooth differently.

Instead of the veneers being placed into the tooth during the first appointment, they are indirectly custom-made in a dental laboratory. Until your final set of veneers is created, you will be given a temporary set to wear.

Your temporary set will be removed at your next appointment, and your indirect composite veneers will be permanently bonded to your teeth with adhesive.

Indirect composite bonding will withstand abrasions and fractions and are more robust than the direct version. However, indirect veneers’ characteristics and durability mean they cost more.
